The Luke Lives On Run/Walk is a 5K race in memory of Lucas O’Connor, a Goshen high school student. Lucas passed away in a car accident and his organs were able to be donated due to a decision he made when getting his driver’s permit. The race was created to honor the memory of Lucas and to promote the need for organ donation. Each year we have been fortunate to hear from two of Lucas’s organ recipients. Jennifer, the liver recipient, has participated in the run with her family every year since it began. Madison, the kidney recipient, has also been in attendance each year. Together they speak about organ donation awareness and how Luke has changed not only their lives, but also the lives of their family. This year The Luke Lives On 5K was able to raise over $10,000 from generous local sponsors and families. The Lucas O’Connor Memorial Scholarship was set up by Luke’s parents, Char and Randy, to be given to a graduating senior of Goshen High School.
